Order Books Open For CLS
Mercedes-Benz retailers have opened the order books for the new CLS coupe following its recent unveiling at the LA Motor Show.
Prices for the new model start from £57,510 for the CLS 350 d 4MATIC AMG Line, £60,410 for the CLS 400 d 4MATIC AMG Line and £57,610 for the petrol-powered CLS 450 4MATIC AMG Line with UK deliveries set to start in the summer of 2018.
The 350 d and 400 d models both come with a new in-line six-cylinder diesel engine.
Producing 286PS and 600Nm in the 350 d and 340PS and 700Nm in the 400 d, Mercedes-Benz claims that the former will sprint to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds, the latter in five seconds. Both have an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
The 350 d is the most economical CLS in the range from launch, with claims of 48.7 mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 156g/km. The 400 d claims 47.9mpg and 156g/km of CO2.
The petrol-powered 450 uses a new 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder biturbo engine featuring Mercedes-Benz’s new 48-volt EQ boost technology.
Incorporating an inline starter generator, the system functions like a mild hybrid in a bid to improve responsiveness and fuel economy.
The CLS 450 has an output of 367PS and 500 Nm of torque from the petrol engine, with an extra 250Nm and 22PS available thanks to the EQ boost system.
Mercedes-Benz claims a 4.8-second dash to 62 mph, 155 mph, top speed, combined mpg of 36.2mpg and emits 184g/km CO2 emissions are all possible.
AMG Line is the only trim level available on the new CLS.
The sporty trim comes with comprehensive standard equipment including:19-inch alloy wheels; parking package, including reversing camera; leather upholstery; split folding rear seats (40:20:40); 12.3-inch infotainment screen with Audio 20 multimedia screen; 12.3-inch cockpit display; ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colours; Agility Control suspension; and DAB radio.
Premium Plus (£3,895), Comfort (£2,495) and Driving Assistance Plus (£1,695) are all available as optional extras.
